Food Truth is a product of Ajes Global Inc., a California C Corporation (referred to in this policy as "we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use Food Truth, available at foodtruth.app and any associated web applications (collectively, the "Service").
If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or our data practices, you can contact us at hello@foodtruth.app.
We built Food Truth to help you understand what is in your food, not to collect data about you. We do not track you across the internet. We do not sell your data. We do not use advertising trackers. We do not run analytics on your behavior. Most of what you do in Food Truth happens entirely on your own device and never reaches our servers.
The only data we directly collect is what you give us when you make a purchase, what your browser automatically sends to our web host when you visit (like every website), and small pieces of information stored on your own device to make the app work.
This policy explains all of that in detail.
Food Truth is intended for users 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you are under 18, please do not use the Service. If we discover we have inadvertently collected information from someone under 18, we will delete it.
Food Truth is currently intended for users in the United States only. While our Service may be technically accessible from other countries, we do not actively market to or knowingly collect data from users outside the US.
We have organized this by where the data comes from, so you can see exactly what touches what.
When you purchase a Food Truth Founding Member subscription or any other paid offering, our payment processor Stripe collects the following on our behalf:
We do not store your payment card information on our servers. Stripe handles all payment processing and is PCI compliant. We receive a confirmation that the payment was successful, along with your name and email, so we can fulfill your purchase and provide customer support.
When you visit foodtruth.app or use our web application, our hosting provider Netlify automatically logs certain information that your browser sends with every web request. This is standard for all websites and necessary for the Service to function. This information includes:
We do not use this information to identify you personally or track you across other websites. It is used only for security, troubleshooting, and to ensure the Service is working properly.
Our scanner application uses your browser's local storage (a feature called localStorage) to remember small pieces of information that make the app work. This information stays on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. It includes:
You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's storage for foodtruth.app. Doing so will reset your scan count.
If you choose to scan a food label using your device's camera, your browser will ask for permission to access your camera. Any photos you take are processed entirely in your browser and are never sent to our servers. We do not see, store, or have access to any images you capture. We also do not store, transmit, or retain any of the food label images you scan.
You can deny camera access at any time, and you can still use the Service by typing ingredients manually instead.
If you contact us at hello@foodtruth.app, your email and its contents will be received and stored by our email provider, Zoho Mail. We use this information only to respond to your inquiry and provide customer support.
To be completely clear about what we do not do, we want to explicitly state the following:
We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes, and only these purposes:
We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, automated decision making, or any purpose not listed above.
We share your information only with the third party service providers necessary to operate the Service. These are:
We do not share your information with any other third parties except as required by law (for example, in response to a valid court order or subpoena).
We retain different types of information for different lengths of time:
We take reasonable measures to protect the limited information we collect. Specifically:
However, no system is 100 percent secure. While we work to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
If you are a California resident, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). These rights include:
You have the right to request that we disclose the categories of personal information we have collected about you, the categories of sources from which we collected it, the business or commercial purpose for collecting it, the categories of third parties with whom we share it, and the specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you.
You have the right to request that we delete personal information we have collected about you, subject to certain exceptions (such as information we are required to retain for tax or legal purposes).
You have the right to request that we correct inaccurate personal information.
We do not sell or share your personal information for cross context behavioral advertising or any other purpose. There is nothing to opt out of, but you have the right to know this.
We do not collect sensitive personal information as defined by California law.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your privacy rights. We will not deny you service, charge you different prices, or provide you with a different level of service.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@foodtruth.app with the subject line "Privacy Request." Please include enough information for us to verify your identity (such as the email address you used to make a purchase). We will respond within 45 days as required by California law.
Food Truth is operated from the United States and intended for users in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the US, please be aware that your information will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your jurisdiction.
We do not currently support data subject rights under the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, or other non US privacy frameworks. If you are located outside the United States, please do not use the Service.
Food Truth does not use tracking cookies. The only browser storage we use is localStorage, which stores small pieces of information on your own device to make the app function (as described in Section 3 above). This storage is essential to the operation of the Service and does not track you across other websites.
We do not use third party cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies of any kind.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. We encourage you to review this policy periodically to stay informed about how we protect your information.
If we make material changes to how we collect, use, or share your information, we will provide notice on our website or through other reasonable means before the changes take effect.
